TANGA REGION TOURISM NETWORK
TANGA REGION is located in the Northern Eastern part of Tanzania and consists of seven districts namely Tanga City, Handeni, Lushoto, Muheza, Pangani and Kilindi. To the East the Region is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south it borders the Coast region and Morogoro Region while to the North and North West it borders the Republic of Kenya, Kilimanjaro and Arusha Regions respectively. The Western part of the Region is bordered with Dodoma Region.
Given this location Tanga Region boasts of a long stretch of Coastline with magnificent sand beaches. Apart from its own tourist attractions the region bordered with Northern tourist circuit which consists of the famous Kilimanjaro, Tarangire National Park which are household names of parks and Ngorongoro Crater.
For tourist and travellers the Region of Tanga is yet another site in Tanzania which is adorden by splendid environment, eye catching landscape, unique culture and obliged people, Sun drenches beaches, skirting and fabled Indian Ocean, rising mountains of great Usambara whispering rivers and lush green vegetation add to the beauty of the Region.
Tanga has four major centers marked for tourism activities .The City is the capital of the Region. It’s situated on the shores of the great Indian Ocean. The city is rich in history natural attractions period architecture and interesting aquatic activities.
South of Tanga City lies prominent trading centre of 19th Century by name Pangani. Pangani has some of the most spectacular beaches unpolluted in the country and excellent beach holiday destination. To the further south is the little known Saadani Game Reserve now Saadani National Park with beaches and wild animals, and the newly established Mkomazi National Park.

The region is well connected in terms of communication. There is an all tarmac road from Dar es Salaam where one can arrive in Dar es Salaam from any destination in the world through the Dar es Salaam International Airport or by sea.
From there one can take the regular bus service chauffer or self drive cars provided by our Tour Agencies and use this road to arrive in Tanga. Also there are speed boats which provide regular services between the ports of Dar es Salaam, Pemba, Zanzibar and Mombasa. Tanga has its own airport which connected by reliable charter services Tanga also connect easily by tarmac roads from major towns in the country.

Tanga offers fantastic wildlife, glorious beaches like Pangani and stunning scenery scattered in many places.
Among the unique attraction areas follows are;
AMANI FOREST NATURE RESERVE
Established in 1997 to protect the flora and fauna of Eastern Usambara Mountains the nature reserve is now an eco tourism attraction with emphasis on walking and hiking.
The area has a wonderful collections of birds, butterflies and plants some which are only found here.
Black and white colobus and Blue monkeys, nine species of African violet and nduk owl are species only found in Amani.
AMBONI CAVES
About 8 kms North of Tanga, these ten limestone’s caves formed during Jurassic age some 150 millions years ago are the most extensive caves system in Eastern Africa;
And a closely by are Amboni Sulpher Baths which scattered from various springs bubbles out from the ground.
This sculpture water medically recommended for skin diseases.
LUSHOTO
The town of Lushoto is situated in the Usambara mountain midway between Dar es Salaam and Arusha which is near Kenya boarder;
Lushoto command beautiful area boasting stunning views, waterfalls, rivers and forest; this area is renowned for some of the best hiking in Tanzania.
USAMBARA MOUNTAINS
This little known mountain range is one of the gems of Tanzania, located to the west of coastal town of Tanga. The Usambara offers incredible natural biodiversity, a cultural history and bird watching paradise that bring a memorable holiday
MKOMAZI NATIONAL PARK
Containing 90% of all botanic species found in Tanzania with one third classified as unique in the world.
The reserve is also home to the Mkomazi Rhino Project.
This involves the introduction of black rhino which its hoped will before being relocated to traditional natural habitat within Tanzania. For tourist Mkomazi offers abundant game viewing, walking safaris and hiking.
Animals that can be found are lions, cheetah, leopard and numerous species of birds.
PANGANI BEACHES
Situated on the coast 45 kms from Tanga City, two hours north of Saadani National Park and further two hours from Amani National Reserve, this is a delightful small town with its mosque, ancient Arab buildings and six kilometers of palm fringed sandy bay.
